I’m looking forward to more content of trucks getting can opened, because at it’s new 12'4" height it is still about four feet lower than most bridges.

That was so fast! How was it so expensive and put off for so long!

It it seems like if they’re going to go through all that work couldn’t they give it a little more than an extra 8 inches?

That’s what she said.

Thats as much as they could do without totally regrading the rail line on each side, or rerouting the sewer main underneath.

It would have been expensive to bring up to modern highway code, this was a Band Aid fix to take care of most of the problems, but still not up to height standard for new bridges.

A lot of medium to large box trucks are over 13 feet tall.
So should be plenty more incidents in the future.

I give it about four days before someone hits it.

I'm surprised they could do that much without a significant regrading issue

They didn’t change the level of the track, they just restructured the bridge with thinner beams to gain more headroom underneath. I guess everyone always just focused on what had to be done to bring it up to full modern height standard, and it took until now for someone to suggest a compromise solution.

Yeah, people can neglect obvious compromises sometimes. 12'4" won't be perfect, but there'll be far fewer people ruining small rental box Van's at that height.

need to set up a channel here in Australia for our low bridges
